This project tells a story that moves beyond the truths of my subjects. I am weaving people's lives and stories into my own. Whether it is recalling a memory of my own childhood through another's experience, or looking to make photographs of memories envisioned, yet never experienced. The photographs are at times a quiet moment in a particular space and sometimes they are coupled with images of people or other creatures. It is through these photographs that I am exploring the notion of what is true memory and my hopes for creating memories where perhaps none existed.

Waterloo is a small rural community about an hour south of Saint Louis. It is a place where 4-H guides children to learn and beauty pageant winners earn an elevated status. It is also a place where people have a deep relationship to the land and its creatures. There is little pretense, people have their defined roles and fulfill those categorical mandates.
